According to an NBC News and Wall Street Journal poll of 900 adults that was conducted on January 13th until January 17th, 60% of Americans are now in favor of legalizing marijuana for personal use. In 2014 this number was 55%.
The poll has a margin of error of 3.3%.
It’s been quite a roller coaster of a month for the marijuana industry. It was on January 1st that the state of California began recreational sales of marijuana and it was just days after that Attorney General Jeff Sessions proposed to rescind the Obama-era Cole Memo and direct that federal marijuana prosecution decisions be governed by the same principles that have long governed all of our prosecution decisions.
The news had many concerned, including Denver’s Mayor Michael Hancock who said that Sessions is “out of step” with the people in America.
