According to a joint study by researchers at a university in South American and two in the U.S., there has been a reduction in the overall alcohol consumption in the U.S. due to the rise of medical marijuana laws.
The researchers have found that there is definitive proof regarding the relationship between wine and marijuana consumption.
They used available Nielsen Retail Scanner alcohol sales data from 90 alcohol chain stores as well as grocery stores, convenience stores, drug stores, and mass distribution stores, from the years 2006 to 2015.
They compared alcohol sales of states that do not have medical marijuana laws and states with medical marijuana laws, this is before and after the laws were implemented.
According to the study of ten years, the counties located in medical marijuana states showed a nearly 15 percent reduction in monthly alcohol sales.
