What many think is just a ski resort city is also a city that does not mess around when it comes to their marijuana sales.
The U.S. city of Aspen in Colorado is believed to be the first city in the nation that has sold more marijuana than alcohol over the last year.
The Aspen Times reported that licensed vendors in the city sold $11.3 million in marijuana last year compared to just $10.5 million from liquor stores. The number from restaurants and bars were not included.
The Aspen Finance Department has shown that in the year-end sales tax for 2017, marijuana sales in the entire state of Colorado had grown by 16% from the previous year.
Colorado was among the first two states to legalize adult-use marijuana in November of 2012.
