It was earlier this month that governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, signed a law that allows school nurses to administer medical marijuana to students.

The stipulation is that the law only applies to cannabis oil and marijuana that is “non-smokeable” such as CBD oil.

The law also requires that students have a medical marijuana card as well as written permission from their parents and the school’s principal. Students cannot carry the medical marijuana on the school bus nor on the school grounds and the nurses must store the medication in a locked container.

It seems the law is looking at medical marijuan as any other prescription medicine.
Governor Hickenlooper had said, “In evaluating this bill, we spoke to parents whose children are medical marijuana patients. We find their reasoning and advocacy very compelling, especially that of Ms. Hannah Lovato and her son Quintin who inspired the bill.”
