Florida medical marijuana patients have a reason to smile this week.

It was on Tuesday that Leon County circuit court Judge Karen Gievers lifted a stay on her May 25th ruling that the Florida Legislature’s provision that bands smokable marijuana is unconstitutional. The stay will be lifted on June 11th.

Florida’s Department of Health had filed an appeal of Gievers’ ruling, which automatically put it on hold.

It was after that, that Attorney John Morgan and two patients with terminal illnesses filed an appeal of that stay.

Gievers has said that delaying her ruling any further would create irreparable harm to patients.

John Morgan requested that the Governor of Florida drop his appeals via social media. He had tweeted, “Every day you waste taxpayers’ money with this frivolous appeal sick people, veterans, cops, firefighters and cancer patients suffer! Where is your compassion man?”
