Canada has made many headlines this year as the world anticipated the country making recreational marijuana legal.

It was on Monday that Health Canada released monthly data on its medical cannabis program, Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR).

The program had been implemented as MMPR in April 2014.

According to the data, the number of patients as of March 31, 2018 increased to 296,702 from 269,502 at the end of December and 167,754 as of March 31, 2017, representing quarterly growth of 10.1% and annual growth of 76.9%:

While this was a growth, it was still the slowest growth on a quarterly basis that the program has seen since it began.
