Legal recreational marijuana sales in California will begin in just a few days and the city of Sacramento is already anticipating long lines of shoppers.

After California voters voted to approve Proposition 64 back in November of last year, the Golden State will now allow recreational cannabis to be sold and purchased at dispensaries.

Sacramento has 30 medical marijuana dispensaries and 27 of them want to sell recreational marijuana as well.

Local permits are still in the process of being finalized so it’s not known which dispensaries will be open on January 1st.

All About Wellness is one store that is normally closed on New Year’s Day but on this occasion will be opened at 10 a.m.

The owner, Phil Blurton has said, “It’s like a whole new beginning for us. Now we’ve got just that much more to learn and how to take care of more people.”

“Well, it’s a certain level of excitement, for sure. You know, it’s been a long time coming, but then there’s the apprehension, too,” Blurton said. “We’re not really sure what’s going to happen. You know, we don’t know really what to expect New Year’s Day. Is there going to be a lot of people here? We really don’t know.”
