A 44-year old man, who is only identified as “Kennan”, was brutally attacked on a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train after he had asked a group to stop smoking weed on board.

The attack happened on a Green Line train this past Sunday night and it left Kennan motionless and barely conscious.

He spoke to NBCDFW and said, “In my mind I was like, ‘Just don’t pass out. Just don’t pass out. God, don’t let them kill me.”

“When they started smoking, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. We’re on a train. Can y’all just wait? Just wait,’” he said.

The group had boarded the train at Baylor University Medical Center around 11:25 p.m. that night.

According to Kennan, one woman spit in his face. “She ended up spitting in my face. I was like, ‘You lucky I don’t hit females, little girl, because I would beat your ass for that.’ And that’s when everything went from zero to 100.”

The video of his attack went viral, and shows five to seven people beating Kennan up as he tries to defend himself. He was pushed out onto the platform at the train’s next stop and was then hit over the head with a skateboard.

“When we saw them tumble out onto the station, DART police were notified immediately,” Mark Ball, a spokesman for DART, told NBCDFW. “Within 10 minutes, we had officers there.”

DART is currently investigating the attack.
