A new report from Cowen & Company has revealed that binge drinking is declining in states where marijuana has become legal.

Binge drinking is a dangerous practice and it was just last month that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that more Americans are engaging in the act.

A Cowen & Company analyst wrote, “In legal adult use cannabis states, the number binge drinking sessions per month (for states legal through 2016) was -9% below the national average.”

According to the report, in state wheres adults 21 and older can buy marijuana, there was a 13% less rate of binge drinking than in areas where marijuana is not allowed.
