You may be able to buy marijuana in Nevada but the problem is, where can you consume it?

The consumption of marijuana in Nevada is for private use only and is limited to inside the home.

Soon this may change though. The state’s local governments may be able to license marijuana lounges.

An opinion from the Legislative Counsel Bureau was released on Monday that revealed there is no state law that prohibits local governments from permitting for marijuana consumption in businesses.

This means that soon there could be establishments in the states where people will be able to smoke their marijuana legally.

“I really believe that Nevada can be the marijuana capital of the world,” said State Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas. “And this will be one more thing in our toolbox.”

Since July 1st, Nevada has allowed adults aged 21 and older to legally buy marijuana.

Andrew Jolley, the president of the Nevada Dispensary Association, remarked on the opinion and said it was “a step in the right direction.”

“We have to be able to give tourists an option rather than a blanket statement that it’s just not allowed on the Strip,” he explained.

“We’ll be surprised at how many locals find value in these lounges,” he said. “Think about how many bars we have or wine tasting facilities and events. It’s crazy to think that marijuana is somehow different than that. It’s really not.”
