A Maryland medical marijuana dispensary has banned some of its customers due to the complaints they had posted online about the company’s pricing or other issues.

So far at least four customers have been banned for these actions and there have been some concerns over the company taking this action on its customers.

The executive director of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, Joy A. Strand, explained that registered dispensaries have the right to decline marijuana to patients as well as caregivers if they appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to Strand, the dispensary banning customers due to the complaints could be problematic because in some parts of the state, which includes the area the dispensary is in, there aren’t other places for the customers to go to.

Strand stated, “If any dispensaries establish a practice of banning compliant patients, who are registered and certified with the Commission, from receiving medical cannabis treatment in accordance with the requirements of our program, the Commission will be obligated to perform a thorough investigation into that practice and take appropriate enforcement action.”

According to Sajal Roy however, who is the owner of Allegany Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Cumberland, Md., he had banned four patients for spreading what he deemed to be false or misleading information online. The other customer that was banned was acting disruptive.

“There’s plenty of other dispensaries, and access is not a question,” Roy said. “I think on some level in today’s society we baby everyone, and we coddle everyone. There are repercussions for what you do.”
