According to a new study, marijuana may be able to help rev up sex drives in both men and women.

The new study was published in the November issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

According to the study, those who smoked weed were reported to have more sex than those who did not smoke weed.

The study surveyed over 50,000 Americans from the age of 25 to 45 and was conducted for over ten years by the National Center for Health Statistics.

The senior author, Dr. Michael Eisenberg, even said he was “surprised.” He remarked, “The daily users, for example, compared to the never-users, reported about 20 more sexual encounters a year. So I think that is a significant difference.”

He also warned, “This doesn’t mean that if you want to have more sex, you should start smoking marijuana. That’s definitely not what this data supports.”

However the doctor does think the study could change how he, as as urologist, helps his own patients.

“If somebody is using marijuana to help them for chronic back pain or something like that, there may be other interventions that we can think about targeting, rather than telling them they have to stop, otherwise their sex life is doomed,” he said.

According to Dr. Holly Richmond, a sex therapist who practices in both Los Angeles and Portland, the results are fantastic. She said, “Obviously I’m not going to tell a couple that doesn’t use marijuana to use it. But if they were interested, I would offer the information.”
