Michigan residents have something to cheer about, at least those who need medical marijuana.

Regulators in Michigan announced on Wednesday that medical marijuana businesses can stay open while seeking a state license as long as they have been operating with the approval of their local community.

Not too long ago the state had told dispensary shops they had until December 15th to close or be at risk or not being able to obtain a license that’s required.

The director of the Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation, Andrew Brisbo, commented, “Patient input played a big factor.”

Those dispensaries that have been in operation within a municipality that adopts an authorizing ordinance before December 15th, may avoid an “impediment” to licensure. The businesses will have to submit a document signed by a local clerk that affirms that the local government allows its operation a well as a prequalification application by February 15th.

Those who do not submit by February 15th will have to stop their operations.
