According to a study by Statistics Canada, Canadians consumed an estimated $5 to $6.2 billion worth of marijuana in 2015.

Statistics Canada announced a few weeks ago that it would be incorporating marijuana consumption and spending estimates into economic growth figures in November 2019.

Canada is expected to start allowing the legal buying and selling of recreational marijuana in the summer of 2018.

The study also revealed that in 2015 there were 4.9 million medical and recreational users of cannabis aged 15 and older in 2015.

According to the study, an estimated 697.5 tonnes of cannabis was used by Canadians in 2015.

Deloitte has said that the estimated sales of recreational marijuana could be as high as $8.7-billion a year once legalized.
