New Jersey could be looking at more medical marijuana dispensaries under Governor Phil Murphy’s administration.

The administration is looking to double the amount of medical marijuana dispensaries in the state.

The intention to double the number of dispensaries comes after the state added more conditions to the list of conditions eligible for treatment with marijuana.

According to a statement from the Governor’s office, New Jersey will have as many as 12 regulated outlets. The new dispensaries will include two in each of the northern, central and southern regions.

“We look forward to the opening of six new dispensaries so we can ensure that all qualifying patients who want access to medicinal marijuana can have it,” stated Governor Murphy.

The state has 25,000 patients registered to use marijuana legally in New Jersey, and 10,000 have enrolled since January. This was when Murphy began leading the state.
