According to a new study in the journal Cancer, around a quarter of cancer patients have used cannabis in the last year.

The study involved over 900 cancer patients in Seattle, where both recreational and medicinal marijuana are legal. The team of researchers found that 74% of the patients used marijuana at least once a week, while 56% reported using the drug at least once a day. 31% of the patients reported using the drug more than once a day.

The study found that patients had used marijuana to help with pain and nausea and also to help with stress and depression and the inability to sleep.

The researchers noted that because the study was only conducted in a state where marijuana is legal, that the findings may not apply to other patients across the U.S.
