It was this week that a medical marijuana dispensary called Liberty Cannabis in Philadelphia became the second in the city to open its doors.

The store, which has a sign reading “Liberty” alone, opened its doors on Monday after renovation that cost a cool $1 million.

The place now resembles a sleep spa. Co-founder Keith Morgan, who is also incidentally the CEO of Krispy Kreme Philly, said, “We’re having a nice day and getting a steady flow of customers. We’re pleased, excited, and encouraged.”

Pharmacist Lou Giannotti, who is the director of dispensary operations for the store’s parent company Holistic Farms, explained the launch was “more of a traditional retail opening.”

He stated, “At one point there were too many people enrolled [in the medical marijuana program] and not enough dispensaries. During the initial wave of openings, people were driving hours just to buy in Abington. There’s now plenty of supply out there.”

Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program has 51,244 patients of which 28,125 have received a medical marijuana card and will be able to buy marijuana to treat two dozen conditions.

Since mid-February, Pennsylvania has seen 28 dispensaries open.
