Retail marijuana is to legally go on sale on Monday in California and Sacramento has its first retail shop that has been approved for sales.

The city has approved A Therapeutic Alternative on H Street in East Sacramento as the first shop to complete the permitting process.

Seven dispensaries were given permits this week by the city. The dispensaries will also need state approval in order to begin selling recreational marijuana to adults 21 years and older.

City spokesman Alex Traveso stated, “We just received the city’s list today and still have hundreds of other pending applications.”

The dispensaries who already have received retail permits from the city are:

A Therapeutic Alternative, 3015 H St.
River City Phoenix, 1508 El Camino Ave.
Valley Health Options, 1421 Auburn Blvd.
Abatin Wellness Center, 2100 29th St.
Alpine Alternative, 8112 Alpine Ave.
