It was Monday evening that San Diego’s City Council approved regulations for marijuana-related businesses.

It took a 6-3 vote on Monday to approve regulations that will allow testing plus cultivation, distribution and production of marijuana and related products as long as the business operator obtains a conditional use permit. The activities would be allowed in light and heavy industrial zones.

The rules do not involve retail dispensaries as there are separate regulations for San Diego’s 11 dispensaries that are already in effect.

The rules apply to the supply chain establishments that handle cultivation, manufacturing and testing.
