According to a new Gallup poll, the support for legalization of marijuana has never been this high.
Now 64% of Americans say cannabis should be legal. This is the highest level of support the drug has had since the polling of the topic started nearly five decades ago.
The question is: Do you think the use of marijuana should be made legal, or not? It has been asked since 1969.
Surprisingly, the new poll also shows that 51% of Republicans are in favor of legalizing the drug for the first time. Democrats are at 72% while Independents are at 67%.
Last year the poll had a record of 60% in support of legalization.
