It was on Friday that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a memo that has a list of legal issues with Utah’s medical marijuana initiative.

The list was compiled by the Salt Lake City law firm Kirton McConkie and is a seven-page document that raises a variety of legal issues.

The memo claims that the initiative would allow some people to grow as many as six marijuana plants; that the initiative would create “significant challenges for law enforcement”; and that it sees large numbers of Utahns qualifying for medical cannabis cards.

In April the church also released a statement that commended the Utah Medical Association (UMA) for opposing the initiative. “We respect the wise counsel of the medical doctors of Utah,” the statement said.
