Though marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, nine states allow recreational use of it and a staggering 29 states allow medical use.
Companies across the nation are adapting their policies as a result.
According to background-screening company HireRight’s annual survey, 67% of employers say they have policies that address the use of medical marijuana.
Compared to six years ago when the number was only 21%, this is a dramatic change.
The company also said that 22% of companies that were polled said that medical marijuana was one of their biggest compliance challenge.
HireRight surveyed around 6,000 HR officers, recruiters, and managers for their results.
