Leafly can’t call U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein “California’s last prohibitionist” anymore.

In an interview on Tuesday, Feinstein said that she no longer opposes the legal use of marijuana. In fact, she says she “strongly supports” the legalization of medical marijuana.

Speaking to McClatchy, she said, “Federal law enforcement agents should not arrest Californians who are adhering to California law.”

She explained, “My state has legalized marijuana for personal use, and as California continues to implement this law, we need to ensure we have strong safety rules to prevent impaired driving and youth access, similar to other public health issues like alcohol.”

In the past, Feinstein had been an opponent of the drug who called it a “gateway drug.” She was also against Propisition 64 in 2016 that would legalize recreational marijuana.

According to the senator’s office, Feinstein changed her views after meeting with constituents.
