Many know that Willie Nelson is an advocate for marijuana, but some may not know that he even has his own marijuana brand.
The country crooner’s brand, Willie’s Reserve, is headed to Canada and will be going public in Toronto.
LivWell Enlightened Health announced that it is planning a series of deals that include taking over management of a Calgary-based cannabis firm and a reverse takeover of investment company Target Capital Inc.
Bloomberg News was the first to report the news.
Denver-based LivWell has about 500 employees and generates about $80 million in annual sales from marijuana growing, processing and retailing, according to its website.
People familiar with the deal say that LivWell is expected to have an enterprise value of about C$300 million ($228 million) after going public.
Being listed in Canada will give LivWell access to international markets.
“I bought enough of it, so I feel like I should be able to sell some back,” Willie Nelson said in a promotional video online.
Legal recreational marijuana will go on sale in Canada this October.
