According to Florida senator Gary Farmer, a Democrat from Broward County, medical marijuana ID cards should be free for veterans.

It was on Wednesday at a meeting of a Senate health care appropriations committee, that Farmer told Gov. Ron DeSantis’s chief health-care budget writer that the state should give the identification cards free of charge to the 1.5 million-plus veterans living in Florida.

Patients are currently paying $75 annually for the cards which are issued by Florida’s Department of Health.

“So many of our veterans are just struggling so much and I think many of them, frankly, aren’t even aware that this alternative treatment is there,” Farmer said.
