It has been less than a week since the state of Arkansas has opened its medical marijuana dispensaries for its residents.

Now those patients who would rather eat marijuana than smoke it will be able to do so soon.

Next week the state is expected to start selling marijuana edibles.

Robert Lercher, a spokesman for BOLD Team, has said that it plans to have gummy chews, concentrates and vape cartridges available with the next harvest, with products hitting dispensary shelves by the end of next week.

Dr. Janice Williams remarked of her patients, “With edibles the onset of action takes a little longer, but then it last longer,” Williams said. “So, it can get them through a night of pain where they don’t have to get up and re-dose.”

According to Williams, edibles are a better product for most patients now that they are close to being available.

As of Tuesday night, both Doctor’s Orders RX and Green Springs Medical, had sold over 26 pounds of the drug in its flower form and totaled sales of around $177,000.
