One of the worst things about the Fourth of July holiday is that the firework noise can scary many people’s pets.

These pets not only get frightened but often times run away from home and escape yards from their fright.

California pet owners are not considering turning to cannabis to calm their dogs down during these loud firework festivities.

There are special pet treats that are infused with CBC (cannabidiol) that can ease a dog’s anxiety.

A Berkeley store called Holistic Hound sells CBD dog treats and they are a big seller. The store’s owner Heidi Hill stated, “The response has been overwhelmingly that it calms them down.”

According to Hill, despite there being THC and cannabinoids in the treats, it’s not the same marijuana that people use.

“The product we sell and what makes it legal is it’s from industrialized hemp,” she said. “It’s less than 3 percent THC — doesn’t get the dogs high.”

The CBD says that CBD is still an illegal substance but many argue that it is safe to use.
