Cheba Hut, a marijuana inspired sandwich chain, is planning to head to the city of Chicago with two locations.

The company will be debuting one local franchisee that has signed a lease in Wicker Park. Another is working to lock down a space in Wrigleyville or Lincoln Park.

Cheba Hut founder Scott Jennings, who launched the brand in 1998, has said, “Each location really takes on neighborhood feel and franchisee feel.” The Wicker Park spot was previously home to a Shell gas station that operated at Damen and Division for 40 years before closing in 2017.

The company currently operates 29 locations in eight states, and another five restaurants are “coming soon,” according to its website.

Jennings prides his company on offering fresh, homegrown ingredients and the best bread around. Items on the menu include Magic Mushroom which has pepper jack, portabella, teriyaki glaze, green peppers & pineapples.
