Chicago is hosting something pretty amazing this weekend for the cannabis lover.

On Saturday the city will be hosting an all-day free event at the UIC Forum in Chicago’s Near West Side neighborhood.

According to the mayor’s office, the “Cannabis Resource Fair” is the “first-of-its-kind” event

The event is aimed at helping residents benefit from the legalization of marijuana in Illinois.

According to the office of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the free event will connect people with business and job opportunities, help with expungement and legal aid and provide more information on new laws and regulations in the city.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Road.

“Ensuring this emerging industry brings unprecedented economic and social benefits to our communities has been at the heart of our efforts since day one,” Lightfoot said in a statement. “By working hand-in-hand with city and state officials, community advocates, and industry partners and providing residents with the resources they need to succeed, we can empower those interested in becoming the next employee, business owner or investor in Chicago’s newest industry.”

Lightfoot is scheduled to take part in the opening panel discussion at 10:15 a.m.
Representatives of more than 65 cannabis organizations, nonprofits and businesses are planning on attending, according to the mayor’s office.
