The first New Jersey educational institution is now offering students the chance to learn marijuana.
Stockton University is reportedly offering a study minor in medical marijuana according to WNYC.
Spokeswoman Diane D’Amico for the university has said that the course load opened with 25 students enrolled in a cannabis law course this fall. Next semester, they’ll take a medical marijuana class.
The university, located in Galloway Twp. and is close to Atlantic City, will offer students who successfully complete the program to get qualification for working as interns in any marijuana-related state organization. This includes marijuana cultivation facilities.
“This is a growing industry and we want to prepare our students from a variety of academic viewpoints,” remarked the program coordinator for cannabis studies, Ekaterina Sedia. “We will not be telling students what is the right thing to do. We will be providing a context and information that they can use to make their own decisions. Offering a program is not an endorsement.”
New Jersey legislators are aiming to introduce a recreational marijuana bill for the state.
