A ban will be taking effect this month in Colorado that will ban edibles that may appeal to children. This includes gummy bears and any other product shaped like animals, people and fruit.

In fear that children could mistake these marijuana edibles as treats, the state is trying to combat any risks.

The state’s health agency’s executive director, Larry Wolk, commented, “Anything that can look like candy is more enticing to kids.”

The ban on specific edible shapes were approved by Colorado lawmakers last year.
According to Mike Hartman, director of Colorado’s Department of Revenue, “That really highlighted that we need to take some action here and make sure these products are not to be mistaken, particularly anyone under the age of 21.”

Retailers aren’t allowed to sell banned shapes after Oct. 1.
