Iowa’s Republican Governor Kim Reynolds has announced this week the appointments of eight people to a medical marijuana adivsory board that was created under a new state law.

The positions are unpaid and are not subject to Senate confirmation.

The state of Iowa allows the use of cannabis oil for several ailments but bans the smoking of marijuana, the vaporizing of it, and eating anything that is pot-laced.

The state’s board can recommend adding or removing medical conditions and is expected to work with state officials on creating the new manufacturing system.
