Fast food giant Jack in the Box is celebrating California legalizing recreational marijuana on January 1st in its own way.

The fast food retailer is teaming up with Merry Jane, a weed focused online publication to launch a late night munchie kit called the Merry Munchie Meal.
The bundle will have the “most craveable and snackable” products according to the company.

Munchie Meals are already available on the company’s late night menu, but with the team up with Merry Jane, the promotion will be available to three Long Beach restaurants in the span of a week.

The company is not exactly going all the way green, at least not yet. “I don’t want to say absolutely not, but most chains at their heart are at least financially conservative, if nothing else,” explained David Henkes, principal at Technomic. “They don’t want to jump into an issue where they can risk facing consumer backlash.”

“I think restaurants are going to learn their way into it,” said Ken Harris, managing partner at Cadent Consulting Group. “Nobody wants to bet everything into this particular product association, but if there is a commercial value to be gained, I think companies will try and learn the best way to approach.”
