Though not every person who uses marijuana for a long time will experience vomiting, it does happen and it can be very painful.

San Diego researchers announced this week that the use of marijuana for a long time and on a heavy basis could lead to severe stomach pain and vomiting in some users.

The disorder is called Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) and it causes symptoms such as severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and the impulse to take hot showers.

One person to experience it is Chalftone Queen who has told CHS that she has had a stomach problem that led her to the emergency room.

“You think you are dying,” Queen explained. “You pray for death at some points because it hurts so bad. It’s just so unbearable.”

“I had severe, severe abdomen pain and severe vomiting,” she added. “You’re literally out of your mind with pain.”

“Even at that point, I still did not believe it,” she said. “I’ve heard my whole life, marijuana is bad. Don’t smoke weed. So, if a doctor tells you don’t smoke weed, it’s not a novel idea,” she said.
