An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll that was released this week has found that many Americans believe that marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol, tobacco, or sugar.

According to the poll, 41 percent chose tobacco, 24 percent said alcohol and 21 percent chose sugar when asked which substance is more harmful to someone’s health.

The encouraging result was that only nine percent of the poll takers had chosen marijuana as the most dangerous to one’s health.

60% of the respondents in the poll also said that they would favor a policy of legalizing marijuana.
