It seems that workers in New Zealand prefer marijuana over other drugs. According to a test of farmers that attended a workshop in Ashburton, the results were that marijuana was the most common drug “by a country mile.”

General manager Therese Gibbens, of the Canterbury West Coast area for the Drug Detection Agency, revealed that 80% of positive drug results from tests carried out by the company in Canterbury are positive for marijuana.

Other drugs after marijuana were opiates, amphetamines, and methamphetamine.
According to Gibbens, “Drugs and alcohol should be on a farm’s hazard list and measures for mitigating their effects should be included in policies. Farmers must have a framework to deal with the risk.”

Apparently the farming sector has been one of the agency’s biggest growth areas for testing.
