Bonsai Cultivation, which grows marijuana, has recalled marijuana from over 50 stores all over Denver and the state of Colorado due to high yeast and mold counts.

The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment announced the news this week. Consumers who purchased Bonsai brand flower, shake, trim, and pre-rolls (spliffs, joints, blunts) between April 30 and Oct. 14 could be affected.

“DDPHE opened an investigation after identifying multiple samples of marijuana plant material had failed total yeast and mold sampling from multiple retail store locations,” the public health department stated. “DDPHE is investigating this issue and overseeing the recall process to remove potentially contaminated products from commercial circulation.”

Stores and consumers should throw the Bonsai products away or return them to the store, DDPHE officials said.

Bonsai Cultivation’s marijuana was sold at 144 retail stores across Colorado.

All retail marijuana plant material or retail marijuana products bearing the OPC barcode 403R-00228 — sold widely throughout Colorado — are subject to recall, a release said.
