Doobie’s Social Club in Michigan, also known before as Doobie’s Tavern, has closed its doors after being open less than one month.
Fortunately for its co-founders and the patrons, it will be re-opening its doors in around two weeks.
This is according to co-founder, Cynthia Bell.
Bell and co-founder Mike Karl decided to close the club and plan to reopen it once zoning and building permit applications are approved by village officials.
“It was already a social club,” Bell said. “So we didn’t feel we need to do the paperwork for the addition of (Doobie’s).”
Elsie Village Manager Shane Grinnell said Doobie’s isn’t violating any village ordinances pertaining to marijuana because it’s considered a club on private property
However, Doobie’s is required by the village to stay closed at this time because officials haven’t approved zoning and building permit applications for the renovation work Bell and Karl did on the second floor.
“We could have explained the whole process. But it’s not really our responsibility to make sure people are doing their homework.
“…If they were a knitting club up there, we would still be having the same conversation.”
