Despite the fact that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker strongly opposed the ballot question on whether marijuana should be recreationally legal, he’s still committed to what the residents of his state want. They want marijuana.
Baker, a Republican, signed a bill on Friday that overhauls the marijuana law that voters approved last November. According to Baker, he hopes the new rules will tackle several of the concerns he has.
He has told reporters that if more funding is needed to implement the law, he’s willing to provide marijuana regulators with it. This comes after advocates for legalization have said the $2 million that has been appropriated for the Cannabis Control Commission in the state budget is not enough.
The state is expected to get marijuana shops running by next year.
