Last week the state of Massachusetts brought in a whopping $2.27 million in recreational marijuana sales.

The figures include sales from December 10th until December 16th and is during the time that the first marijuana dispensary opened in eastern Massachusetts.

Alternative Therapies Group in Salem opened on Saturday, Dec. 15 by appointment only.

The number of sales include the Salem shop and from the first two recreational stores in the state, which opened in Northampton and Leicester back in November.

In the first four weeks of recreational marijuana sales, the industry has brought in a total of $9.29 million for the state.

Massachusetts has a 17 percent tax on all marijuana sold, which means the state has received more than $1.5 million in the first four weeks of legal recreational marijuana sales.
