It’s been only months since Massachusetts decided to legalize recreational marijuana and already a state agency approved a policy that will allow “marijuana clubs.”
WBUR, Boston’s NPR affiliate broke the store that marijuana clubs will be allowed to operate in the state.
It will take some time for the clubs to happen as it will only be June of next year that retail marijuana shops are scheduled to hit the state.
With the allowance, those who use cannabis will be able to legally buy weed and then smoke it on the premises.
Jim Borghesani, Massachusetts’ spokesperson for the Marijuana Policy Project, told the Daily Free Press, “If you look at the regulation regarding alcohol, there are certainly many places that consumers can go and purchase and consume alcohol [at] any bar, any restaurant.”
“We really see no reason why cannabis shouldn’t be if not as many … cannabis consumers have that same opportunity to enjoy the substance of their choice in a safe setting.”
