Vireo Health of New York has launched a new deal on the Labor Day holiday that provides exclusive discounts on marijuana.

The exclusive discounts apply to 2.5 million members and retirees of Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW.

“This program is designed to make our products more affordable and to educate New York City and Long Island’s union members about the medicinal benefits of marijuana as an alternative to opioids,” stated Vireo ECO Ari Hoffnung.

As part of the agreement, union members and retirees who qualify are eligible for $25 off their first medical marijuana purchase and a 10% discount on purchases after that from any of Vireo’s four dispensaries. The company also offers free home delivery service.

The company’s products are produced and dispensed by Local 338 members in a first-of-its-kind agreement for New York state. The union includes 13,000 retail drug store, pharmacy, supermarket, grocery store and food process/production industry employees in the state.

“The New York state AFL-CIO applauds Vireo Health of New York’s commitment to creating good paying solid jobs and recognizing the importance of working men and women to have a voice in their workplace,” remarked Mario Cilente, president of the state AFL-CIO.

New Yorks’ Health Department has said that there are almost 70,000 marijuana patients currently certified in the state.
