Sales of marijuana in the nation’s Big Apple are flying out the door. The state of New York is being hit by the coronavirus worse than any other state but sales of marijuana are still skyrocketing.

Sales in general of marijuana in many states have been explosive. Between March 16 and 22, sales of recreational cannabis rose by 50 percent across states including California, Colorado and Oregon. Medical marijuana sales also jumped 41 percent from the same period a year ago.

According to a NY Post article citing a marijuana dealer in Manhattan, their business is up 50%. The dealer, who remains anonymous, said, “I work in every borough except Staten Island, and people are very happy that my service is running. Customers are saying ‘Thank you’.”

The dealer added, “We’re not running out and there are no issues with restocking… yet.”

Vladimir Bautista, the CEO of marijuana lifestyle company HappyMunkey is also very thrilled.

“My consumption has gone up by 50 percent due to the extra time and stress. It is helping me tremendously during these crazy times to cope with the fear of unknown . . . and [to] prioritize what’s important in life.”

In the report, Stu Zakim, president of Bridge Strategic Communication said, “I’m smoking more because business is down and I’m stuck inside all day.”

Zakim has a prescription for marijuana to treat arthritis and chronic pain.
