According to the most recent Gallup poll, which polled America’s public opinions on marijuana from October 1st until October 10th, a slim amount of republicans support legalization of recreational marijuana.

The poll found that 66 percent of its respondents think it should no longer be illegal.

This is a new record for the poll which started surveying Americans on the drug in 1969. In this year only 12% supported legalization.

The poll also found that Democrats and independents support legalization at 75 percent and 71 percent respectively.

Republicans however are not showing this kind of support. The latest figures show that the republicans are only 52% in favor.

It may take awhile for them to start easing over marijuana but its a positive sight when former Speaker of the House John Boehner, a Republican who has once been “unalterably opposed” to marijuana legalization, is now a part of a marijuana legal business.
