This year Ohio’s medical marijuana sales have brought in $100 million already. This is doubling the sales figures from last year, the program’s first year in operation, according to a Dayton Business Journal report.

As of July 20th, Ohio’s licensed dispensaries had sold more than $156 million worth of cannabis products since the first sales launched in January 2019, an increase from the cumulative $56 million in sales as of December, the Dayton Business Journal report said.

According to the news outlet, to this day, 116,500 patients have registered for Ohio’s medical cannabis program, as well as 13,000 caregivers.

Both Central Ohio indoor cultivators and six processors have opened since the beginning of the year, according to Department of Commerce reports. The agency also this month opened a new application period to add to the state’s three testing labs.

Ohio dispensaries had adopted curbside pickup for Covid-19 safety, reported the Board of Pharmacy, which regulates that arm of the program.

The industry had created 2,100 jobs statewide as of last month, a 21% increase since February as more facilities were allowed to open.
