Grease star Olivia Newton John recently revealed that she is battling breast cancer for the second time. She previous battled metastatic breast cancer back in the ’90s and it went into remission. Unfortunately it’s back and it has also spread to her back.
One way she plans to fight the disease is with “natural wellness therapies” and this includes marijuana.
It was not John herself who admitted marijuana was on the list, but her daughter Chloe Rose Lattanzi. Lattanzi wrote on her Instagram, “My mom and best friend is going to be fine. She will be using medicine that I often talk about. CBD oil! (Cannabis has scientifically proven properties to inhibit cancer cell growth) and other natural healing remedies plus modern medicine to beat this.”
CBD stands for cannabidiol for those who don’t know. It’s one among many compounds found in marijuana. Research has shown that certain cannabinoids have an anti cancer effect according to Allan Frankel M.D., a medicinal cannabis expert based in Santa Monica, California.
According to Frankel, it is legally available in states that have legitimized medicinal or recreational marijuana. While doctors are not allowed to prescribe, patients can get it at a legal dispensary.
