Illinois opponents of legal marijuana have said this week that the legalization of the drug would let white corporate exploitation of minority customers.
According to Rev. Gregory Seal Livingston of New Hope Baptist Church, the legalization or marijuana will amount to marijuana companies “pimping” blacks and Hispanics. “Profit is the motive,” Livingston said this week.
The state’s Democrat governor-elect J.B. Pritzker has said he hopes to legalize cannabis soon after he takes office.
Livingston has said to Pritzker, “legitimizing or taking over an already decriminalized, illegitimate, but lucrative drug market is a gangster move worthy of Al Capone,” at a Healthy and Productive Illinois press conference.
