According to two high-ranking health officials from the state of Pennsylvania, patients in the state could have medical marijuana available to them within six months.

One even committed to it. The director of Office of Medical Marijuana, John Collins, stated, “You have my commitment: It’s going to happen.”

It was also Health Secretary and Physician General Rachel Levine who made the promise.

Their commitment comes right after officials announced that an online registry for medical marijuana patients has been created. medicalmarijuana.pa.gov is a registry that will allow people to start the approval process for receiving medical marijuana and will identify doctors who are qualified to prescribe it to patients.

According to the Department of Health, 109 physicians have so far completed the hours of training that were required to be issued a certificate.

Levine has said that almost 200 doctors are going through training. She remarked, “It’s absolutely, critically important that we have physicians in many different specialties throughout the commonwealth to register and take the education and become practitioners in the program.”
