The state of California has had an exciting week as it kicked off the sale of legal recreational marijuana on New Year’s Day.

San Francisco will be the newest city in the state to start selling the plant as the city has approved recreational marijuana sales in seven retail stores.

This will be the first time people in San Francisco will be able to buy marijuana without needing a note from their doctor.

On Friday the San Francisco Department of Public Health gave the green light to four medical dispensaries and the California Bureau of Cannabis Control has issued licenses to them.
