According to a Pew Research Center survey, six out of ten Americans are for marijuana being legalized.
The survey, which was conducted last October, found that the amount of people who support marijuana legislation right nwo has almost doubled from the number it was in the year 2000. In 2000 only 31% of Americans favored marijuana legislation compared to 57% right now.
More Democrats compared to Republicans are for legalization with nearly seven in ten saying the drug should be legal. Only 43% of Republicans favor marijuana legalization.
The drug is still illegal under federal law.
